I searched the site but couldn't find a mention of Cybill's autobiography, co-written by Aimee Lee Ball and published in 2000. The full title is: Cybill Disobedience: How I Survived Beauty Pageants, Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood and the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think. (Whew!)
I just bought a used copy through Amazon for one cent plus $3.50 for shipping. I thought it would be the hardback version but it's a paperback copy. I wanted to actually support Cybill by purchasing her book and should have ordered it for the regular price through a bookstore. Even though it's seven years old, I'm sure they'd have some copies in stock somewhere. I don't think she'll see any part of that penny. Oh well...
I'm only up to page 37 out of about 300 pages but so far it's interesting, funny and quite candid. I recommend it to fans and to anyone who likes bios in general. I wanted to meet the real person behind the actress who played 'Maddie Hayes' and to get her side of her own story because I've read some derogatory posts elsewhere and heard some snide comments here and there over the years. I think some people just like to talk trash about famous folk.
Since I've discovered the Moonlighting DVDs I've become a rabid fan again as if it were a brand new series - thus, my interest when I came across this title. But I must admit that the main reason I bought the book is to see what Cybill has to say about ML and Bruce! I haven't gotten to that part yet since I'm still in her childhood years but she made one comment in the Intro/prologue. "Fans are always asking why Bruce Willis and I don't reprise our Moonlighting roles for the big screen. The answer is: studio executives would consider me too old for him now." Sounds like the ol' double standard is still in effect. I won't go off on a tangent but it's okay to pair Bruce with Halle Berry, but not, say, Angela Bassett, Sigourney Weaver, Goldie Hawn, Kim Basinger, Diane Keaton, - hey, why not Candice Bergen? - or the actor with whom he's had the most phenomenal onscreen chemistry - Ms. Shepherd. I guess he'll next be paired with Lindsay Lohan or one of the Olsen twins.
Anyway, she wrote that in 2000 but I still have hope seven years later. Come on, come on; it can and must be done!
To conclude, even if Cybill didn't mention him or the show, CD is so far a pretty good read.
