If I was to introduce a newbie to this show, this is the Ep I'd show after the pilot. Maybe I have a weakness for late night call-in shows ala SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, but that McCain guy with that story of the gal with seven hearts kinda reached me. # Then David getting on Maddie's case about having no social life and going to bed at 9:30 alone, has her say to herself, "I hate you David Addison", and getting dressed and going out to see what she's missing. Meanwhile David's doing a drunken rendition of R-E-S-P-E-C-T in a bar, and is found hanging around Maddie's closet at work, hung over. Oh yeah, there's the "boink" ride. # The Paul McCain character gives the episode a special feeling, as he's one of the few "victims" in the whole series I was really rooting for. The Best Ep of Season 1!

Rsteele, I agree. I think this is the first episode I saw way back when they were repeating the first season during the summer. David's bar scene has always stood out in my mind.
Also, the alley scene in "Gunfight.....". Those 2 episodes did it for me 20 years ago!!
It cracks me up on the first dvd that they use the bar scene in "Gunfight" as part of the intro where David and Maddie walk in and he has the cigarette. "Yo, you remember me?!?!" ;D
Of course we do!!!

By coincidence, this was the first episode that I saw when we were having re-runs here in New Zealand 3 years ago and it was the first time I had seen any episodes since Moonlighting's original airing. It hooked me again in a really powerful way and reminded me why I had been keeping an eye on both Bruce and Cybill's careers for the last 20 years. Love it, and I agree - a great episode to show to newbies.
