Quote from Bees: 7. So, what is the verdict? Who is more comfortable in whose back yard?
I don't think it is a matter of seeing who is most comfortable in the others backyard, but more of how Maddie could use a little more "fun" and David could use a little more "fine" in their lives. And who better to enrich their lives than each other!!
They are made for each other and destined to be together!....then and now!! Agree, agree, agree! David and Maddie should do more things like this episode together! I'd like to see Maddie enjoying David's fun things and how David reacts to Maddie's fine things. What new things would be coming out!

1. This episode immediately follows The Man Who Cried Wife. a). What, if any, is the significance of this episode following TMWCW? b). Does the first half of this episode resonate differently when viewed in this context? c). What is a familiar theme in this episode? The first thing that comes to my mind is the way TMWCW ended - the fantasy kisses - passionate, fantasy kisses. Maddie was imagining what it would be like to throw caution to the wind and lay a dual directional lipus lockus on David. So, when Maddie describes her dream date to David and says "you" and then "he", it almost seems like a continuation of her fantasy. She is imagining what it would be like to have a fine evening with David. She probably had the whole thing planned in her head which is why she is so disappointed when it turns into a disaster. The theme of spontaneity continues here as well. Ironically, Maddie has a much better time during her unplanned fun evening at the boxing ring than she has during the well-planned, albeit disastrous, fine evening. Spontaneity seems to be winning this battle!

Hahahaha...I never even thought of it! Sadly, it was neither fun nor fine! I will tell you, we ended up staying about as long as David and Maddie did. Our seats were in the first row of the mezzanine...but nobody fell over! And we didn't get escorted out -- we left because it was a horrid play! I won't go into detail, but it was a lot more graphic than G-spot!!

Thanks Lin for the great-great Qfs, which Ifve never thought of before. I enjoyed reading and figuring them out, and Ifd like to post some of my humble opinions. 1. This episode immediately follows The Man Who Cried Wife. a). What, if any, is the significance of this episode following TMWCW? I think in TMWCW, Maddie comes to know Davidfs spontaneity is one of his great things and starts to dream of the possibility between them. And David knows that. However they still continue those games: he plays the bet in the office using her as a tool and she has a date with an uninteresting man. I like to think when the time comes, both are seeking how to make it move ahead. Makes sense and David's quick thinking took the open opportunity to make a move, I love it!

Thanks Rose for reading it and for your encouraging words....I think I'm getting the hang of this fanfic thing...it's great practice...a lot more challenging to write about characters who already have recognized personalities. 2. When Maddie is telling David about her disappointing dates, he is really listening to her. Notice his expression. a). Do you think that David's efforts to show Maddie a FINE evening are all about the dare, or is David trying to show Maddie that he can fit into her world? b). Is this a case of ol' quick-thinking Addison using this situation as an opportunity to ask Maddie on a date without really asking? As David is listening to Maddie complain about they guys and the dates, it seems that he is really taking it all in. David is never one to pass up an opportunity and this one just fell into his lap. He is pretty mean when he says, "It's not the guys or dates, it's you, sister. You don't know how to have fun", which puts Maddie on the defensive. She can't back down from his challenge (not that she really wants to). I think David also wants to show Maddie that he can be a suave, sophisticated man and does know how to show her a fine time.

3. As Maddie gets ready for her date with David, she is nervous, excited, almost giddy. As she answers the door, she gazes downward and then is pretty flirtatious with David. Her glances in the limo are very interesting. This may be the only time that we see her quite like this.
a). What is happening here? What do you think the writers are trying to say about Maddie?
b). Do you think Maddie thought of her FINE date as a real date? Why or why not?I think it is the only time we see her excited about going out with David. What is happening here is we see a little part of how MAddie sees David. She believes David is going to come through for her. But, once David gets the tickets we know he is doomed on the date with Maddie----but he doesn’t have a clue!! I think she did think of her date as real and not just a game of dare. And so did David. Look at what those two went through to get ready for that night. We watched David try to plan the evening and we saw the remnants of Maddie's preparation on her bed as it looked like she went through dresses like they were a dime a dozen…David’s look at the door…Maddie's look at the door...a limo!! Well said, bees. This date was really important to both of them. The mind reels contemplating what might have happened if things had turned out differently. Then again, that is the story of ML. We are always left wondering, "what if?"

4. Do you think Maddie should have gotten mad at David for what transpired during their FINE date? Agree that Maddie's anger stems more from her disappointment than anything else. She was so excited about the evening and it started off so well. The antics in the theater sent her crashing because she had such high hopes. And then I think she was mad at herself for thinking that David would come through. What was the line from Money Talks, Maddie Walks? Something about "showing him a little bit of your heart and then he steps on your aorta"? It's kinda like that.

Hi all, So sorry to miss the FUN and FINE discussion...spent last night in the ER with our 6 yr old--asthma attack. Luckily, he's fine now--ah, the resilience of youth!--though I feel like I went too many rounds with Gabinov. . In any case, we are back to our regularly scheduled chaos. Anyway, just wanted to say that I found the questions and responses very fruitful, and they've definitely helped me appreciate this ep more. I especially liked the connections made with MWCW, vis a vis spontaneity and fantasy. (Speaking of, when I was watching the dresses-to-limo segment for the fifth time, I was suddenly reminded of an adolescent daydream brought on by David at the front door...fess up, ladies, you KNOW what I'm talkin' about! )

5. This is one of the more comedic episodes of the series. Cybill mentions that it is one of her personal favorites. Do you think they pull it off? Oh yes, in a very big way...there are some fabulously funny stuff in here...for instance... ~At the theater when David throws the paper at Maddie to get her attention and she gives a look that makes me chuckle just thinking about it. Also, the way the audience head moves to the beat between David and Maddie...good stuff. ~The dialogue about the G-Man and G-Woman, lol Too many to name. So true, since. Great scenes. The phone booth is another one. .."they're stealing our stolen car!"
