I guess since I am the first one here I will get the thread going with a few questions!! Gray will be joining us after the hockey game, but he sent me some questions earlier today: 1. Maddie was, well, maddening at points in this episode, going back and forth wanting Dave to be mature, then wanting the old Dave back, then enforcing the bet that she herself wanted to lose. If Dave was forced to be the "new" Dave....how long would it have been before he quit? 2. What happened to Clark? And here are mine: 1. Why do you think David went along with Maddie’s proposal ? 2. Regarding the overlapping dialog in the car, what does this reveal, if anything, as to their relationship 7 months after Maddie joined Blue Moon? 3. What does it mean when Maddie says, “This is important for you, for us.”? What does it mean when David says, “You are one tough customer.”?

Hey all! Just finished dinner, off to get boys ready for bed,
BEESN....... great questions so far. Wonder if we will have alittle group here tonight. Ok here's a question from me:
Who do you think really won the bet? Did either of them win, both of them or or neither of them(does that sound right? )

This question relates to the scene when David and Maddie go to the apartment building to drop off the ransom. David tells Maddie that he thinks she should wait in the car. Do you think David is sincere in his concern for her well-being or is he just playing her?

Rose, great question....I need to think about that for a bit!! Lin--yours is great as well! I don't think he was sincere at all. Remember, he was the one that let her climb the clock tower in the pilot!! LOL!! He is definitely playing her and then some. He gets out of the car and sings about Maddie doing the limbo later!! At this point he is focused on winning the bet and proving to Maddie that he can not sing or do the limbo... when he wants to!

She really was! First she wants him to grow up, then she wants him to play, then when he does, she wants him to pay!! But, did they really call off the bet? When she is ready to call it off David says he will for her money and a limbo back at the office, right? She responds by rolling her eyes and a grrr. So maybe she thought the bet was still on?
Now would he have quit Blue Moon? I don't think so. I could see him pretending to be "in control of himself"...lol!!...when Maddie was around, but still up to no good in the office, occasionally getting caught by her and making her mad. I don't think he would completely let her have her way, standing his ground without leaving Blue Moon.

Before I get into the questions - great ones, all - I just wanted to make a comment. To me, this episode is quintessential Moonlighting. Both Maddie and David are true to character, Agnes is great, and even the wobblies do a great job, albeit in silence. There is chemistry, banter and overlapping dialog. Did I mention, that they both look great?

Anybody notice the music they used while they were going around picking up clues in LA? Sounded like stuff from the Pilot or "Gunfight..." Never noticed it before...very 80's like!!

I think this would have been a tough choice for David. He wouldn't walk away from the agency and Miss Hayes easily. He was hooked on her and desperate to make the agency successful. However, he would have been miserable as the new Dave, de-Daved and all. I think he would work at convincing Maddie that acting like an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be. His charm would kick into high gear.

bees, when you mentioned that the music seemed reminiscent of the Pilot or Gunfight, it reminded me of something else. I love all the location work in this episode. It gives it a great feel - much like the Pilot.

2. What happened to Clark? Clark is alive!! Clark is alive!! ;D LOL, great answer, bees! On the serious side, I think that the old biddy did him in, but it leaves much to the imagination and many unanswered questions - which is why we are still wondering nearly 24 years later!

Why do you think David went along with Maddie's proposal? bees
I think that David wanted to prove Maddie wrong...and when she told him that the prize would be 3 Gs, he was in. Having Maddie limbo would be the icing on the cake. He would just love to embarrass her in front of the kids.

What does it mean when Maddie says, "This is important for you, for us."?
Wow, you can read a lot into these little words. In "Maddie-speak", I hear her saying that David has to take this business seriously in order for them to make it professionally (and personally?).

Yeah...he became bits of guy, only David and Maddie did not think he was really in the exploding van! That old biddy, although she is the beautiful Barbara Bain, does him in...worse than Mommie Dearest!!

Ok, so I quoted myself....but just a tag to this...MFD was written by Bruce Franklin Singer. Why didn't he come back and at least write Season 5?? Also, has anyone thought to compare MFD to "Atomic Shakespeare"?
