BEARS WIN! BEARS WIN!
For the uninitiated, the Hershey Bears (my team) just stomped the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (BOO!) 3-0 in game 7 of the American Hockey League Calder Cup Semi-Finals.
Now, back to the questions......

Who do you think really won the bet? Did either of them win, both of them or or neither of them rose Maddie thinks she won in two ways. 1) She proved to David that he could not go 24hrs. as a mature adult. 2) She realized she liked the old David as opposed to the new one, so she felt like she won the bet, but also got to keep the old David.... David thinks he won because Maddie confessed to him during the licking dog story that she would rather he not change, that she missed the old David. Is that worth more to him than the money or the limbo? Maybe! But really, they both won.

1. Maddie was, well, maddening at points in this episode, going back and forth wanting Dave to be mature, then wanting the old Dave back, then enforcing the bet that she herself wanted to lose. If Dave was forced to be the "new" Dave....how long would it have been before he quit?
Maddie drove me insane in this episode. Yeah, I know she was ticked at the limbo incident and she had a right to. This was seven months into her Blue Moon gig…seven months…and the place had to turn a profit soon or what little remained of her nest egg was going to run out. I have no issue with her being pissed, or even the bet, the problem is her inconsistency.
Almost immediately after setting up the bet, she states that she “secretly hopes she loses”. Boy, no poker face there.
Then she kind of encourages him at several points of the show, only to then blast him for reverting to form! Yeesh.
Regardless, you guys nailed it. Dave would never pass up this dream job...I know I wouldn't have...ice queen and all.

Gray...were you a spectator or a player at this hockey game of yours??!! While I dabbled in my younger days, unfortunately my skills never had me progress past games with my buds. This was one level below the NHL!

But, I take this to mean that she wants to lose the bet because if she does it means she made David change, which is what she thought she wanted out of the deal. Only she soon realizes she doesn't want him to be the new David. David wins the bet in this sense......make sense??

What happened to Clark? Well, we know he is toast, but how, when and where remain a mystery. I always wondered why Emily Greydon would whack him anyway? I mean, without her cash, the bad guys would have taken care of it without her involvement. Yeah, he was a pain and a disappointment, but all she had to do was ignore him. The entire plot kinda unwinds when you bring in the second note. The first was rather easy to understand. Clark fakes his kidnapping, sends the note to get some cash and pay off his gambling debts. Dave and Maddie thwart this, so he does NOT get his money, meaning that he is still indebted to the mob. Hmm. I suppose he goes to his stepmother, expecting the sympathy he talked about, and she in turn ventilated his cranium with that snub nose revolver. Still doesn't explain why she goes through all the trouble with the second note. Even if she THOUGHT the first was real, why not just dump the body somewhere. NOT putting it in the van that she has rigged to blow seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to leave a bunch of unanswered questions. And she obviously had help with the van. Ahh, its just a TV show.

1. Why do you think David went along with Maddie’s proposal ?
I don’t think he had a choice…she IS the boss you know. Plus it was a challenge and ALL guys like challenges.

Oh man I never thought of that line in that matter, but you have framed it perfectly. That takes on an entirely new spin.

Lin--yours is great as well! I don't think he was sincere at all. Remember, he was the one that let her climb the clock tower in the pilot!! LOL!! He is definitely playing her and then some. He gets out of the car and sings about Maddie doing the limbo later!! At this point he is focused on winning the bet and proving to Maddie that he can not sing or do the limbo... when he wants to! Yeah, he had her go into a rough bar to set up a meeting with an assassin and jump off a roof. I think he knows she can handle herself. This was just Dave trying to look, well, kinda thoughtful, kinda mature, kinda me.

3. What does it mean when Maddie says, “This is important for you, for us.”?
I think she is looking long term at working this out with Dave. She knows that, with work, their partnership could probably work. She “says” she is trying to loosen up (which we know isn’t working out all that well), but she “knows” that David has to become more business oriented or the venture will eventually fail.
The wobblies just cannot continue to be idle, Dave has to get them drumming up cases, even if it means stealing them from Lou LaSalle.
What does it mean when David says, “You are one tough customer.”?
I don’t think Dave expected Maddie to keep to her guns with regards to the bet. Boy was HE wrong. The old Addison charm has its moments, but the hard headed Hayes traits are a worthy adversary.

Another question: If David simply goes along with the bet just for the challenge and the fun of it, why then does he get mad and seem hurt before the bet is agreed upon? And then again when it appears that Maddie has won the bet?

I think the both did. David realizes that the business is VERY important to Maddie in that it is all she has left. To help her be successful he needs to become more "mature" at times.
Maddie also realizes that the business IS David Addison, quirks and all. You can't separate the jive from the Dave and at times she is going to have to take the bad with the good.
