She writes good (writes good), she writes fine (writes fine) She writes good, she writes fine and I nearly lost my mind! ;D Fabulous picks we are having here, both of them were on my alternate list, I always felt so bad I had to exclude them. Now I feel better! The scene from ' The Lady In The Iron Mask' can't be unnoticed. For me mostly because of THAT kiss Maddie gives David. I love them being wild and frenzied, but I am melting every time they share a sweet, soft, deliberate kiss... even if it is on the cheek only 'The sexiest sexist banter' is something so dear to me, as I have to lead those discussions with the damn stronger sex so often, and every time I so have to think of Maddie, the lady is SO right: they ARE animals! ;D ;D ;D Great-great job, Sandra! Give us more!

Happy Sunday all! I'm glad I made it, here goes the rest of my top 10:
# 4 “...something that really matters.” - “Keep dreaming, Addison!”
The bet (“My Fair David”)
Where can I start to describe why I love this scene? It has so many good lines in it, that I'd be here tomorrow if I'd want to quote them all. It is Moonlighting at its best, fast, funny, sexy, absurd. With great comic timing and great outstanding comic acting of both. I'm cracking up of course with “This is body hair, baby!” but the look on Maddie's face as a reaction to it makes me choke with laughter.
But the best moment of the scene and reason why I rewatched it about I dunno how many times is the moment when Maddie's backed at the door of course, when he demands raising the bet if he's supposed to stop singing, and Maddie asks: “More money?” David leans in close, very close, blocking her with little place to escape, definitely invading her privacy, and declares with a delightfully mean and frigging hot glance and a bedroom voice:
“Not money. Something that really matters.” “Keep dreaming, Addison!”
She thinks he suggests sex, and that's where I rub my eyes, unbelievingly: she doesn't seem to feel uncomfortable at all! Not with the supposed suggestion, not with the physical trap she's in at that moment. She doesn't try to escape, she is smiling all the way, and a pretty lewd smile, I might add! Now isn't that fake-icy blonde looking both damn flattered and pleased with what she thinks he's after?? Oh, what a pity he's only after your dignity!
One of the hottest moments of the show, and, surprisingly enough, it's the blonde that pours the lava in there! Brilliant!
# 3 “I need a favor...” - “Done.”
The invitation to an anything-can-happen weekend (“Funeral For a Doornail”)
Maddie has to attend a family wedding and dreads going alone. The NSM she had planned to go with is indisposed, and so she turns to David, wondering “if I could get you to take me.” How nice and sweet her almost girlish embarrassment when she asks him, and I love to see that she turns to him in that situation. He, on the other hand, is so surprised and pleased about this, that he even forgets to make a lewd remark on that phrase of hers (of course, she could get him to take her at any time!). Without teasing, without smirking, and of course without the slightest hesitation he answers sincerely, almost solemnly: “I'd be delighted.” Swoon!!!
And that's where the fun starts. Because, of course, this is not supposed to be a date, and therefore Maddie doesn't like him being delighted at all and would prefer to keep it all business-like, so nobody has to wonder “what the sleeping arrangements will be” - “You said you wanted it safe, not dead!”.
When Maddie complains that there's no possibility to rent a man for such occasions and put them back into their box afterward, “like a tux”, David decides to do exactly what he's best at and what we love him for: obey her wishes and mocking her at the same time by earnestly promising to handle this as purely business with the logical consequence: she has to pay him a salted fee. He would have been delighted to take her, but if she can't let that be nice, she needs her torture, and boy, is he delighted about that!
I love this scene because it has everything to create the real ML feeling: funny, head-spinningly fast dialogue, even over-lapping; great comic acting; sweet moments – already the beginning speaks volumes when she reluctantly admits she needs a favor, and his immediate reply in that totally sincere tone is “done.” – and, let's face it, the whole scene is sizzling hot.
I always thought it was a real pity that we (and they) never found out what really could have happened during that anything-can-happen weekend. Another of their many missed occasions.
# 2 “...that spot on your neck...” - "David, David, David, David...!"
Breaking the pact... for the first time (“To Heiress Human”)
I'm quite pleased that my # 2 is from an epi that didn't make it on my top 6 list, and I wonder why – already this scene alone is able to catapult it into stellar heights. It is a feast to watch Maddie struggling with herself not to give in to her attraction and knowing after him almost casually mentioning the spot on her neck that she's already a goner. He didn't even have to remind her of all the things he'd like to do with her, things he'd obviously done with her he night before, things she obviously had enjoyed beyond anything (who wouldn't have?). I know that there are other scenes that might show better the brilliance of Bruce's acting. But I don't think there is any other scene that shows better the breath taking sex appeal beyond his drop-dead-good-looks. Definitely, this is the scene which shows best the toe-curling virtuosity with which he is able to play that stunning instrument that is his voice. Plus, the body language, the looks, the pursing of his lips – there is desire dripping out of every single of his pores, and how could you blame Maddie for jumping him right there and then?
I'm a happily married woman, but I really wouldn't want to take the risk of sitting in a car at 2 am on a dark street with David Addison and just – having a conversation. Not even having him read the phone book to me, for what it's worth. I'd be a goner, too. And I wouldn't have resisted that long.
On Youtube, someone commented on this clip “This man has sex in his damn vocal chords.” Nuff said.
# 1 “Stop smiling. Why are you smiling? How can you me so smug?” - “I'm not being smug. I'm being honest.”
The Big Bang scene (“I Am Curious... Maddie”)
I already said that I tried really hard to find scenes for this project that are not scenes from my top 6 epis, and I managed to put some in, but there are some I simply couldn't leave out just because of that. And of course, there was absolutely no way of leaving THE scene out of my top 10, and even no way of ranking it any place than # 1.
Why? Well, for those who do not know that scene by heart – please go back a few pages in this thread and read Rose's excellent description. I won't repeat that, because I couldn't do it any better. I'll just give my quintessence.
I love this scene because it makes my toes curl, my heart leap, my stomach flip and because I think it has everything a perfect love scene – on screen and in real life! – should have: The passion, of course. The tenderness. The so-long-awaited relief. The scratching of the itch. The courage of finally giving it a try. Of giving up the resistance. Of giving in. The fight and the surrender. Feelings and passion getting the better of rationality. The final admitting of the inevitable. The baring of their souls. The baring of their bodies. The slaps, the kisses, the hands, the looks – the wondering looks on their faces! The final smiles, the pure and undisguised happiness and, OMG, the touching of their foreheads. And yes, a bit of knocking-off-furniture doesn't harm either.
What can I say without constantly repeating myself? Well, let me say it in the brilliant and never truer words of David Addison: I don't have to say anything. You know it and I know it. You feel it, and I feel it. Nuff said.
I love this project!!

Thanks Goldie, yes, those discussions we strong women will have always to have. But I think that was not the point in the sexiest sexist discussion - this wasn't about which one is the stronger sex (MHO of course), but about pointing out that neither of the sexes is perfect, and that women too can be sexists sometimes, even if we like to think that we're always so just and well-balanced, that we're always right just because we're women. Because we're not. And I think in this one the blonde proves that, she shows that she's prejudiced in some things. Oh, come on, you knew I'd say that, Goldie. That's the male side in me LOL Feel free to contradict.

Just posted my comments on your #6 and #5 and saw you posted the rest of your list. And since I am such a David Addison today, can't stop talking, so I do continue to comment 'The bet scene' is the one I re-watch over and over, so love to see David talking about dignity. And again THE question: HOW could he NOT kiss her at the moment? I am a girl, but even I would have kissed her, so hot she looked... David, David, David... *sigh* I have to confess: I've never been so crazy about the scene from “Funeral For a Doornail”. But it was before I read the alternate version of the weekend, I mean the Wim's story. I am sure if they went to that wedding, it would have been an unforgetable weekend for them - a delightful one for sure! And your #1 and #2 just swept me off my feet. What a beautiful description! Your feelings, emotions, your huge love to these scenes are so genuine and seen in every word! It was fun and pleasure to read your list, dear! Thank you for the amazing job!

I agree with you. But I think it's entirely possible that she spurred him on. And excluding that possibility just because she is a woman, and women don't do bad things, makes Maddie a sexist. Sorry to say.

sandra, Great list...and great commentary. Particularly loved this insight:
David plays her like an instrument sometimes (maybe most of the time) and this is no exception.
And then there's breaking the pact...I love your description:
Ho-lee cow! You are right on, here, sister, and I concur wholeheartedly...I'm sighing just thinking about it...OK, better stop now...

What a great job partner- enjoyed reading these today, in fact they spurred be to run off and watch ML on a Sunday afternoon (perfect Sunday?). Fabulous descriptions for each and every one- love how everyone found something new to say about those popular tape-stretching scenes lol. Equally well, you describe the comic scenes with such enthusiasm- fun fun fun to read. xx

That's one hot list you got there! I loooove that scene from MFD, and your description is perfection. And Heiress? Yess. I also regret never seeing that Anything Can Happen Weekend, but thankfully, your fic has eased that regret tons! Excellent work!
