I know that Cybill caught a lot of flack for her behavior on the set of ML, but I never ever thought she was the only one to cause problems. With three big type A personalities involved, they were all to blame in some way, I'm sure. And I do think it was a "boy's club", which would have put Cybill in a very difficult position. I don't know...I may catch some flack on here for saying this, but of the three of them (GGC, BW, CS), I think I probably put the least amount of blame on Cybill. Although, I will say that when Glenn left, the heart of the show stopped beating. He created the emotion on the show. We may not have liked the storyline of Season 4, but it was heartbreaking, and we all felt the ache. But then in Season 5, after Glenn left, the shows were a skeleton of what they had been. The emotion was gone. Think about how you felt when Maddie and David kissed at the end of TMWFE. I bet it was nothing like the way you felt when they kissed in WFTE, MTTC, or THH.

I'm not going to play the blame game. I will say that it's just sad how these tv shows are sometimes weighed down by all the drama backstage. It takes away from the experience of the actual show itself. No matter how much you try to distance yourself from it as a viewer, the rumors about certain behavior is always somewhere in the back of your mind when you watch it.

I'm sure with the show being so popular, the cast and crew were all under a tremendous amount of stress. And stress is not good for anybody. No matter who you are.
I'm really just so thankful that they were all able to give us this wonderful show that we love so much.

Marlena, I agree that Cybill seemed to get most of the blame for the problems behind the scenes. At least that's what it seemed like to me from reading various articles. But this makes it seem like that might not be true. I think it was probably just a clash of strong personalities. And I too am thankful we got as many seasons and episodes as we did. I am so curious about what the new book has to say.

Marlena and Sandra, I agree with both of you on your major points. There were certainly huge egos to go around, including GGC, CS and BW. And the show certainly suffered once GGC left. I am in no way saying CS should avoid scrutiny here. But I also agree that the contemporaneous reporting seemed to lean toward the narrative that CS was especially difficult to get along with. I don't doubt she had her moments. I only point out that it seems-seems, as we don't have all the facts yet-that the issues that thwarted ML in its later years are still a problem.
And: I'm also grateful that GGC, CS and BW worked together to give us the kind of historically significant and wonderfull television as evidenced by the oral history of AS in Vanity Fair.

I’m sad to hear this as I think the only hope for a ML return would have been with GGC. Who would hire him to be showrunner now?
I have no idea if allegations against him true and will not be the judge and jury.
