Before anyone throws tomatoes or even harder larger objects, hear me out!
I just wanted to see if anyone else thought the way the scene was shot was well-done and quite romantic. You had "Just My Imagination" by The Temptations in the background while we see this couple just hanging out together all over LA at night having fun, flirting, sharing a smoldering look or two and then a kiss. And I kinda liked Virginia Madsen as Annie even though I question her behavior as a married woman running around with her cousin's "ex."
Now I know for some - for most - that David doing anything with Annie is a scene killer and a character assassination. Well, I agree up to a point. I mean it's really really bad bad bad writing for this show that it wasn't Maddie with him on that date. If she had been in Annie's place, When Girls Collide would probably have ended up as one of my favorite episodes, or at least that would have been one of my top five favorite scenes ever.
So if anyone can see past Annie, the rabid purple elephant in the scene, did you like anything about the date at all?

Well for me i cant get past anything with the scene to say i liked it at all, Sorry Thats just me. I loath all with Annie and David so much. Yeah maybe i should give it up after 20years some could say but i cant , i'm alittle obsessed with my show and how it ended so badly. Ah yes if it was D/M in a scene like that it would have been heaven . Ahh all the possibilites............................I'll go reread some happy fan fics LOL

rose, I understand 100%. Believe me, when I reach for a ML episode WGC is certainly not in my top 50 choices. It's still some notches above Lunar Eclipse though. Actually Perfetc and Somewhere Under the Rainbow bother me more than WGC because they are such snoozers. At least with WGC my blood boils a little and I feel something.

Did you notice when they were out on the town, the man in the background was taking down a Die Hard poster??? An 'in house joke' no doubt - but it bothers me for some reason. Not that they are taking it down, but that it is there in the first place. (Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere before and if it has please lead me to the thread - ta x)

Ah yes if it was D/M in a scene like that it would have been heaven . Ahh all the possibilites............................I'll go reread some happy fan fics LOL I feel the exact same way. I loathe the Annie and David episodes and I won't watch them. Yeah, I'm childish like that. I don't like the way ML ended, but I accept it and the fact it can't be changed now. Here's the thing about Annie and David: 1. When David was with Gillian, you automatically knew that it would never last between them due to financial situation (she wanted someone rich and David was NOT) and that fact she turned out to be a crook. However, I find myself enjoying their date (when they meet) and I love "This Old Heart of Mine." David looks so sexy when he is looking at her and when he says, "Come here." 2. I'm okay with Sam in Maddie's situation. BECAUSE, I knew and we could tell that in the end, Maddie would choose DAVID. We can see that really clear who she picked. 3. Annie and David: Ok, here we go, this is why I can't bear to watch the two of them together. ML was getting close to the end and when it ended, I didn't get a good feeling that David was dumping Annie because he CHOSE Maddie. I feel what happened was obviously, some not so nice scenes between D&M, and David dumpling Annie because SHE WAS MARRIED and he didn't want her husband to find out. Now, David dating a girl who is married seems "out of character" to me to begin with. But, her husband is getting close to finding out about them. I think David just chickened out. I don't believe that he dumped Annie because he really sat down and thought about it and that he truly loved Maddie instead. This is what I got from it. And then ML ended, so you know how that went. They race to the chapel to get married, but it is because they are doing what the fans want them to do to keep the show going. And, what they say to the priest doesn't convince me that they were in love anymore. It wasn't romantic one bit. It just sounded like PALS again. Anyway, what does everyone else think?

Urgh, you are so right in everything you said. I think. I have to say I think because I never watched S 5, not when it aired for the 1st time in Germany, and not on DVD. I simply refuse it. Childish and immature? Well, maybe. I've had enough from what I heard and read about S 5 in general and especially about tge Annie arc.
I simply don't wanna watch two empty shells act pretending they are Maddie and David. Because, having been taken away all heart & soul from them, they are nothing else than that - empty shells. Gruesome.

Gruesome. I hear ya, Sandra. So, you've NEVER ever seen any episodes from S5? Have you watched any scenes on YT or anything? For me, it ends at "Color of Maddie" in S5. That's like episode three or something. Everything else, some cute scenes and all, just PALS once again. Once I had gotten them finally together in S3, I din't want to go back to watching them just be "pals". Granted I was unhappy with S4 and the whole Walter Bishop thing (OMG, I forget to mention him!). I could tell that Maddie didn't love WB. You could tell throughout his time on the show, that Maddie was still head over heels in love with David. And likewise. My sweet babies. And I saw NO romantic chemistry between David and Terry so that doesn't even factor into it for me. S4 is a hard season to watch. But, it clearly demonstrates just HOW IN LOVE David is with Maddie (and that is so SWEET!). She really got to him when she left. I feel tons of sympathy for David in S4. I guess when she got back I was hoping she and David would be together, with child, instead of the WB fiasco.

Yes Bonnie, I YTed some scenes, but they reamained oddly... how shall I say it... bloodless to me. Even if there were some cute scenes... they had no depth. They couldn't simply go back to pick up a S 2 mood, not after all that had been. Agree about what you say about S 4. Maddie was never outta love with David. The intensity of her feelings was just creeping the hell outta her, that's why she took the detour over Vegas. And tge ending of S 4 was so full of hope...

Bottom line is I absolutely hate that relationship. Sorry, I just do. David should have been with Maddie. End of story.

Right with you myfairdavid: I cannot stomach watching them together, it leaves me with a nasty taste in my mouth. It's David and Maddie all the way or no way.

Ladies, I am with you on this. I HATE the thought of David and Annie being together and when I don't hate it - then I DESPISE it. David Addison is the most genuine character I've ever met, and that what he has with Annie is just not genuine, and that means it is not David Addison. And it breaks my heart.

BMS and Goldi - Yeah, I know. Besides the anger I get, I feel sick. I just want to start watching again from S1! WGC ruins season 5 so much for me. I still had faith D&M could get back together after S4, but WGC aired. My hope was gone. Not enough time was spent showing me HOW/IF he gave up Annie for MADDIE. That's why I feel like we need closure...ML reunion movie, anyone? ;D

Maybe it was a nod at Bruce: "Hey, don't forget the show that made you a star"?
