Ahh...I have so many thoughts in my head and I'm speechless at the same time... I don't know how you do it girls.... but it works!!!!! You give us so much joy, happiness and hope with every new episode! Each of them is a product of your love and hard work. And this new episode ... I just have no words to express how it made me feel! You know the feeling when something you thought was lost is just back?!?! I'm just endlessly happy! I'm doing my happy dance all day long! I know that I'm going to re-read this episode over and over again, because it is like Xmas! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this brilliance! p.s. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGEL

At last, Baby Addison Hayes is in the world! And it was a pink one too yey! I like the name; I have a couple of very good friends with that name- which always bodes well. I loved whole anticipation thing...reckon I was as anxious as David by the end :-). I also really enjoyed some of those intense lines they delivered to each other after Elly was born- I'm a sucker for hearing those two declaring their love to one another.
Funniest line: the one where Maddie talks about collecting the cars in her purse lol- that made me chuckle. ;D
Great stuff girls xxx

Sandra, Goldie, & BMS... Thank you so much for your nice comments! I know everyone has been waiting for this episode for a long time, and I don't mind telling you I was nervous at the prospect...but I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. It was incredibly satisfying to write a happy outcome (NOT ending!! ) for David & Maddie!

It's because of this I try to comment on every single episode or fanfic I read: "To our readers…you make the hours I’ve spent doing this worthwhile. Your responses help me be a better writer, and touch my heart, too…because they show how much you care." Jen...we do care, we love all the episodes you do! Everything is always just spot on! We love you gals and all the hard work you put into this!!! Lets hope it keeps going for a long long time. Because to me, this baby has opened the door to so many possibilities, and I for one can't wait to read them!!! I am sure you girls will come up with some doosies!!! Now on to the episode....some of my favorite moments/quotes: - The elves were fantastically funny!!! Great great idea there! Loved that! - I loved all the advice Maddie got on what to do since the baby was late! I heard a lot of those myself. (tea, Mexican/spicy food, vacuuming, castor oil (YUCK), sex...well yes by far the best one. ;D ) - And I loved the quote: "Two weeks! Don't even think about it bunny!" LOL!!! - Loved Moms reaction tho the word "ring"! LOL!!! Maybe one day Mom (and yes...me too) will get that engagment ring on Maddies finger. (softly begging). - I LOVE how David calls Maddie "slim"! Hahahaha...and she don't slap him for it! I guess there could be worse things to be called! LOL! - And who are we kidding...Maddies attempt to get things rolling....GREAT!!! "Are you telling me you just wanted my....stuff...I feel so used..." PRICELESS!!!! Im sure he would'nt mind being "used" over and over again!!! ;D - The exchange in the middle of the night when Maddie "thinks" she is in labor is priceless! David not quite believing its really time - then the happiness when he relizes its realy time - or so they think! - "Braxton-Hicks contractions my foot - those suckers hurt!" - LOVE that line...I can sooooo hear Maddie saying that! - I loved to see them "fighting" again over the apartment. It was time for a good ole knock down drag out. Just what was needed to get those "juices" flowing! - Epidural time is priceless! Davids poor hand...but totally relatable!!! - I loved how Maddie had a car collection in her purse! My Megan does too! Nice to know girls play with boy toys. - The speech at the end...swoon! "You're the strongest person I know...lets do it together... - Did Maddie really think the name Bunny was going to disappear? Really? Sooooo not going to happen. ;D - One of my favorite lines...."I think you made his decade...Well you had a hand in it to y'know...Well not a hand exactly...." ROFL for real!!! LOVED that!!! ;D ;D ;D - And the icing on the cake...it was a GIRL!!! I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! The VM board has been speaking to me threw my Droid for a while now!!! LOL!!! And I adore the name Ellie! I have known a few Ellies and they are all pinch your cheeks adorable!!! ;D Great great job ladies!!! Enjoy a good break!!! This will keep me very happy for a little while. (Not a 5 year break little while mind you...but for a bit). Loved it....loved it....loved it!!!! Wonderful Job - Take a bow! My virtual glass is toasting you all right now!!! CHEERS!!! Now go get thinking on what comes next. xooxoxox, Kim

About the name........
Well, our season opener, "What's in a Name? was all about Maddie and David debating name choices. At the end of the episode, they agree that they have chosen the perfect names, but won't tell us, the readers/viewers.
How did we, the VM team pick the name? We did a lot of research.....meanings, sounds, number of syllables......we kind of zeroed in on names that worked with words that evoke Moonlighting -- sun and moon, happiness, strength.
We then put together long lists, and waded through. Finally, the four of us voted, and Ellie came out on top.
I love it because it is a bubbly and fun name...just like a little girl should be. But it does have meaning -- it is Greek in origin and it means "a shining light" or "most beautiful woman".
Something that is also fun is the definition of Ellie in the urban dictionary:
"Eliie is the most amazing person you will ever meet. A bit sarcastic, but mostly loveable".
That's our girl, all right. Chip off the old blocks!

Holy cow, Kim--what an amazing review! So great to hear that some of the moments I had the most fun writing were faves of yours, too. That Christmas scene was kind of bizarre...it literally came to me all of a piece, which doesn't happen very often. I had to scramble to write it down before it disappeared! And I have to admit, writing about the end of pregnancy and labor was kind of...cleansing. Having been through it four times now, it was fun to create someone else's experience...hope Maddie's happy with it! ;D

Yes, Kim, we were all actually unanimous about a girl. I do think we were influenced by the fact that we incorporated into VM the fact that the baby they lost was a boy. But in my case, I just could not think of anything but David with a little girl.....teaching her to play baseball! ;D

Just as I promised here I'm back with my fave lines from the episode! Goodness...there are so many! #First of all, I totally agree with Kim, the elves are adorable! The whole scene is just perfect and adds to the Xmas mood we are all in now. Love Mrs Claus! I've always been curios about her...how she looks like, what she says...now I know ;D Love this: Mrs. Claus seethes silently, gives the Head Elf a glare icier than the Abominable Snow Monster’s cave, then turns on her booted heel and stomps back into the cottage.#The new version of the Moonlighting Theme music is just so so cute! I just can hear Al singing this! It's very clever and very Moonlighting! # I know it sounds....strange but....I loved Magillicuddy in this episode, he was kinda funny and sweet!I really can picture this: "Magillicuddy pokes his head in, the rest of him still safely behind the door."#There is a huge number of Maddie's lines that make me giggle: "It’s OK, Mr. Magillicuddy. The rampage is over—I’m too tired to yell or throw things.""Maddie: Mr. Addison doesn’t have a ticking time bomb in his belly...at least it takes my mind off it a little.""Maddie: (dryly) It’s a good thing we’re not panicking. Calm down, David""Maddie: (not really listening) Braxton-Hicks contractions my foot—those suckers hurt!"" # And my fave David's lines: "David: All right, Slim…here we go…" "David: (mock-upset) Are you telling me you just wanted my...stuff? (Melodramatic hand to forehead) I feel so used...""David: Hey—just remember, the best things in life are worth waiting for…and I should know. (Blows her a kiss)""David: Yeah, well, you groan good. I’d rather watch you groan than anybody else sing."#The Virginia/Maddie conversation scene is very sweet and very special. I re-read this one several times.... Somehow it is so true to life, and so genuine! Makes me think of my mom who is far away... Besides, I've always been a fan of Maddie's mom - she is adorable! My fave moments: "Virginia: And how are you, dear? Maddie: Huge. Massive. Gargan—""Virginia sits up very straight at the word “ring.” She pauses, weighing her words, then fishes—carefully, so carefully...""Virginia looks like she might faint...at the same time, she looks happier than we’ve ever seen her. But she manages to rein it in, for the moment." #The whole car exchange is just hysterical! Bert is so funny! I really can't stop laughing while reading it: "David: Where’s your pager? Bert: In my purse—" #Must admit....THIS made my day: "Maddie: (pats the bed) Care to join me? David: (deadpan) Depends on the dress code. Maddie: (indicates sheet) Well, I’m wearing your favorite…""David: (OS) Sure hope I remember how to do this... Maddie: (OS) Maybe this will jog your memory—""Maddie: (OS) Are you sure you can do this again? David: (OS) I’ve been saving up.";D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D #...BUT not as much as the birth of the Bunny The whole description is just so vivid! I can see it! This is how I've always imagined this! I love how funny lines are mixed with sweet ones here: "David: (again watching monitor) This is the peak…keep breathing— Maddie: Will you SHUT UP! I don’t want to keep breathing—I want DRUGS!!" "David: Hey, we need the epidural man down here. My partner is about to murder someone…and it might be me.""Maddie: Don’t be eating my chips.""Maddie: I liked cars when I was little, too! I had a whole collection—I carried them around in my purse."(---I DID TOO!!!! ;D ;D---)"Maddie: If you EVER put me in this position again, I WILL kill you!"(NO YOU WILL NOT! ;D *secretly hopping David WILL put her in this position again.....Because Ellie needs a bro *) "David: Blondie, you’re the strongest, bravest person I know. Who climbed a clock—in high heels? Who went all the way to Argentina to get revenge on a scum-sucking accountant? (A beat; his voice gets a little hoarse) And who never gave up on me?" *FAINTED* Oh, and the scene in the waiting room is great-great too! Thank you once again for this piece of joy and happiness And I am so glad it is not the end, because as Kim said it....there are so many possibilities left You rock girls xxxxxxx p.s. love the title too! "Labor of love" sounds just perfect

Well finally baby Hayes-Addison is born! What a delightfully sweet funny heartwarming episode! A little girl! Boys things will change now for D&M but not too much i'm sure just an extra little person to love! I enjoyed the Virginia scenes very much and im glad at least with Virginia & David the baby they lost was brought up . Loved that M&D even had alittle fight, i missed their fights LOL and yes like Sandra i agree the way they helped get the baby here was just what the Dr ordered LOL I also wondered where the name came from too i wondered if i missed something but i guess not. Thanks for the info Diane! Its such a cute little name! Look forward to see where VM goes from here!

rose & goldie... Thanks again for your enthusiasm! Glad the end of the "hiatus" went over so well...I think we missed writing those scenes as much as you missed reading them! And it will be very fun to see where little Ellie leads Maddie and David...their lives will change, they will change...but the banter, the quarrels, the chemistry, and most of all the LOVE will stay just the same! So glad you enjoyed!!

Jen,
Sorry I have been remiss in giving you my "formal" comments on this episode, although I think you know where my heart is.
I think it is absolutely wonderful. It is tender, funny, touching, clever -- all the things a real Moonlighting episode is. You have made Ellie's entrance into the world an amazingly memorable gift, not only for Maddie and David, but for all of us.
On a personal note, you know how invested I am in VM. I approached this season with some trepidation, but also with a great deal of excitement....Maddie and David moving forward with their commitment is a wonderful thing. And this episode is a pinnacle, resulting in the birth of our little shining light. The episode was in your capable hands from the beginning, and no better decision could ever have been made. Thank you so much for making this episode everything I dreamed it could be.
There are many teams out there in this crazy world......I wouldn't trade my Virtual Moonlighting team for anyone! Love you gals!

diane, Dangit...you made me cry. Honestly, as David said, the thanks are all on my side--first, for taking the dreck of Season 5 and investing it with a purpose, part of a coherent (as much as that was possible!) journey...for helping Maddie and David find each other again, in a way that was real and believable...and then, for making their relationship vital and loving and true, while still being faithful to the characters Glenn originally created. You, and Lizzie, Sarah, Dana, and Sue, built such a great foundation...I feel incredibly lucky to get to help carry the Moonlighting story forward, particularly since I get to work with three of my favorite people. So thank YOU for all your hard work, your support, and of course, your words, which go straight to my heart.
