Hi All -
I'm new to this site...but not new to Moonlighting, I've been a fan since it originally aired. I recently have been re-watching all of the episodes and have become obsessed again. ;D
Anyway, one topic I haven't seen on here is the body language between Maddie and David / Bruce and Cybill -- In the first season or two I think the way they stand near each other is mostly directed (but I am re-watching to find some examples)...
but as the years go on and they get more comfortable...it is noticeable that they sit very close to each other, Bruce especially is always sitting close to Cybill, leaning her direction, putting his arm around her, holding her hand...by the time season 5 rolls around he is all over her in almost every scene...and this is when they supposedly weren't getting along very well. He is constantly holding her hand, sitting facing her direction, leaning her direction or generally messing around with her a bit (since by this time they were 'phoning in' most of their performances.)
I just think it's interesting because body language isn't something you can act of fake...it just happens....and I think their body language says a lot about how they feel about each other...even if they weren't getting along everyday, etc. They developed a comfort and ease when they were together - maybe deeper than they realized at the time, but you can see it in their body language.
Some examples from season 5 are below (it usually happens outside the office). Let me know if you can add examples from other episodes!
P.S. One of my favorite topics on this board is the "hands in the wrong place" - this topic kinda goes off that...except it's just noticing the more natural way these two were around each other that kinda gives a 'behind the scenes' feel.
Examples:
Between a Yuk and a Hard Place (about 17 mins in) - After the first bird scene, Maddie and David sitting on a couch talking to a client - Bruce's is practically wrapped around Cybill. Then about 33 mins in, They are back sitting on a couch - David grabs Maddie's hand to leave and (after they don't leave) they sit there holding hands for the rest of the scene for no reason and are kinda intertwined. At 36 mins Cybill laughing out of character (yes, I know they broke character a lot during the filming ala the blooper reel).
Plastic Fantastic Lovers - About 26 mins in, they are sitting in two different chairs, but David is leaning about as far over towards Maddie as he can....without falling out. Ha! A small aside also, at then end when they are throwing noses and silicones, Bruce Willis is wearing his wedding ring throughout the entire scene.
I See England - The shower scene is definitely Bruce and Cybill fooling around...no acting going on there...lol (but cute scene)
Those Lips, Those Lies - in the very beginning when they are looking for the theme music - Maddie squeezes David's hand while it's in his pocket. At the 13 min mark David has his hand on Maddie's thigh / when his brother comes in, David leans all they way towards Maddie while sitting in the chair next to her.
Anyway...just more fun things to look for.
