A couple of times people have said that ML really hit the mark starting with this episode - everything that the pilot promised seems to just work. I have to agree.... I have just started rewatching ML from the beginning (!) and although I enjoyed the first two programmes, it still seems like an embryonic version of the show, as if they weren't quite sure how to do it. This episode is just wonderful though, it has the banter, the interesting case, the whole caboodle. Bruce seems to just nail David Addison here and is catching up with Cybill! They seem far more equal now. Isn't it great when you notice things afresh after seeing them lots of times!! Mul

Mul ~ You are SO right! I watched this episode last night, and I thought to myself that here is where they really became David and Maddie. Maddie is much less flirty, much more prim and proper. David is more David, and less Bruce Willis acting. You've got Maddie searching for someone in her life. You've got David kind of pining away for Maddie ("...not that she has to go for me!") but not fully admitting it. It IS Moonlighting. The first couple of episodes, while the writing is excellent (as evidenced by the fact that there are so many great quotes from them) the actors had not yet *become* the Maddie and David we all know and hate....um, that's ML-speak for love

Yup, when you're right, you're right!
This is where is really starts to be 'great great'. I'm sure I read or heard that Bruce felt that he had suddenly really 'got' David in this episode. Sooo true.
I love your name honeyblondenoggin!!! Excellent!

Yeppers, this is the episode that did it for me! I do not remember catching the show the first time the pilot aired or when they ran the first handful of season 1 episodes. I believe I really started getting hooked when they showed repeats that following summer. But, TNMYH was it for me. My thought process during that time is pretty clear even 22 years later.......Man, who is that guy that that could make me laugh my a$$ off and make all of the women's hearts go pitter-patter. And hey, that's the L'Oreal(sp?) lady.....sure wished I could make my hair look like hers......did not know she was such a great actress.....doesn't Maddie see David is nuts about her?!?! All I knew is that I had to get some really good VHS tapes for the next weeks repeat!!
