Hello Members: I need your help. Last week I was presented with an amazing opportunity. A friend of my brother's, Michael, is Co-EP of Eastwick, featuring Our Fair Cybill in, as he called it, "a bunch of episodes." He continued his message with, "I could introduce you if you'd like. Just let me know if you're around next week and I'll hook you guys up." Needless to say, I freaked out a bit when I read this. I replied that it would be "beyond amazing." No response. Follow-up email, acknowledging Michael's busy schedule, asking if it was still possible, would be a dream come true, etc. No response. So guys, I'm wondering if you could say a prayer, throw a penny in a fountain and make a wish, whatever you can think of to make this happen. I had this whole plan to ask you guys to post questions that I could ask her for you, mention Diane and Cindy's phone interview from years ago....Funny thing is, I only wrote Michael to compliment Eastwick, ask if Cybill was going to be a regular, and tell him I was a long-time fan of hers. I never anticipated an opportunity to meet her. Now, as each day passes w/o a response, I feel more let down . Anyway, just wanted to share.

Witness I would keep being engaged with this dude, maybe through your brother.
Cyb was filming a movie right across the street from where I work (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) last year. A friend of mine had an "in" with the production company and said he'd see if I could get a 30 second meet and greet, just to let her know that knuckleheads like me are out here that appreciate her work.
Well I just sat by, waiting for the call and, it never came. They apologized that I just got missed, but I lost my chance.
I guess there is a line you have to walk, showing a sincere interest in meeting one of your favorite actors and not coming off like some psycho stalker. I'm sure you can do that.
If you DO get to meet her, invite her to drop in the forum from time to time. I think she would be pleased to see that we still follow her career after ML, after Cybill, and onto her current projects like Psych, Eastwick and others. (And tell her Graycav says hey!)

Thinking good thoughts for you, Witness.
I'm hoping your brother's friend is just working through the busy parts of it, and nailing down the details before he confirms with you. Don't forget, Cybill usually seems to run a very busy schedule herself.
I'm going to be in LA for a bit starting next week.....give a holler if you need a chaperone!!! ;D

Good vibes from me too, witness!! Would you believe Bruce was in Dallas last night emceeing for the opening of a new perfomance art center and I didn't get to go?? Tickets were sold out...but they were only $500...husband wouldn't go for it...sigh! I would love to meet Cybill as well. Good luck! PS Speaking of Cybill...I have DVR'd a great many of the episodes from "Cybill". She is so gosh darned funny. It's really hard to laugh when you are busting your buns on a treadmill, too!! Anyway, started one yesterday and it was the one with Charles Rocket. Made me a little sad, but it was very funny. There is also one with Charles Durning playing her father. Reminded me of Robert Webber. Everyone should watch "Cybill" ...so hop to it!! RIP Charles Rocket and Robert Webber aka Richard Addison...and Alexander Hayes

Witness I would keep being engaged with this dude, maybe through your brother. Yeah, gray, I'm not sure my bro knows anything about this, but I'm supposed to see him this weekend so I will ask him. I fear he will say something like, "You didn't play it cool." Whatever dude. I guess there is a line you have to walk, showing a sincere interest in meeting one of your favorite actors and not coming off like some psycho stalker. I'm sure you can do that. Absolutely. This concept has plagued me since the offer was made. I wanted to convey my appreciation and gratitude without seeming the least bit "psycho stalkery." I may have come across as overly enthusiastic. But I didn't want to seem too laid back either. See, being a man, I bet you played it totally cool when the opportunity to meet Cybill presented itself...and it still didn't happen. So what's the answer?

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you with your kind thoughts! It made me feel better putting it out there, and getting those lovely responses.
Diane, I will let you know what happens...I may actually need you there, to help me stand and to do my talking for me! I've never met a celebrity, much less one that I've been wanting to meet since I was 11 years old.

Well, folks, I spoke to my brother today. He believes his friend was only trying to be nice. Then he said that if his friend was directing an episode of Eastwick (which he already has), a set visit could possibly be arranged, and maybe an introduction as well. Hmmmm...sounds almost exactly like the offer his friend made. Now am I to assume that my brother was only trying to be nice and is hoping I'll just forget the whole thing? Incidentally, he works in the industry too. This whole situation is just another example of people not meaning what they say. Seems to be so commonplace these days. If only Darryl Van Horne could give ME the power to, oh, make my wishes come true with a snap of my fingers? How grand it would be!

Well, y'all must have thrown an AWFUL lot of coins in fountains and spent the last few Sundays praying with all your might in church. Witness is going to the set of Eastwick tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if it will be a mere "I'm overwhelmed and honored to meet you Ms. Shepherd" or evolve into an entire chat session. But just in case, if you have time and you want me to ask questions, post them on here and I will do my best. Hopefully there will be a photo-op too. I'm shaking in my boots (I already made a fool of myself on the phone with Michael's assistant, when we were setting up the time. She said, "Is 2:30 ok?" My reply was rather gushy, to say the least).

Whoopie (without the pies)!!!!
Now, with a brother in the business, you know that their time-lines are usually VERY flexible. Hurry up and wait...kinda like the Army. I bet she will love to talk to somebody "outside" the industry on her own turf.
I suppose I'd like to know if she will be doing any more episodes of Psych and if she ever gets a chance to lurk on the forum here to see what we actually talk about.
And ask her why she never returns my calls, emails, certified letters, singing telegrams, flowers, candygrams.... (just kidding...REALLY just kidding!!!)
Good for you witness. You will be a great representative of all of us here on the board who love and respect Cyb for her vast past work and always look forward to her next project.
Maybe if she comes back to Harrisburg.....

So wonderful for you, witness. Enjoy the moment.
I think with Cybill, the best bet is to react rather than plan as she seems to flow through lots of topics when she talks.
That said...if you do get to ask anything specific, I'd like to know about theater......are the Broadway rumors that have been floating around for a year or so true? And does she have any plans to do any more musical cabaret performances?
Thanks and have a great great time!!
diane
P.S. If she doesn't have plans, I'm free for dinner tonight! Tell her I'll treat! Hahaha!
