While writing my first commentary, I was reminded of a song by Amanda Marshall....it's a definite David song. Or actually, a song that Maddie could sing to David. (And yes, Bees, I used it in Virtual ;-)
Right Here All Along
Shadow boxing in my head again Lying here beside you in the dark Making mountains out of nothin' Hoping against hope And making deals with God
Then I feel you stir beside me And you don't say a word But still I know
And in your eyes I see the reason In your smile I see the road that takes me home In my heart I know the answer That all the things I looked so hard to find Were right here all along - right here all along
Sometimes life can make you tired You get so used to being on your own Looking for something to count on (Something to count on baby) Wishing for a love that's carved in stone But I can hear you through my worry Your voice is telling me to let go CHORUS
When I needed someone to count on You were right here all along When I needed someone to lean on You were right here all along And when I needed a hand to hold You were right here all along And when I thought I had nobody baby You were right here all along CHORUS X2
I needed a hand to hold Needed shelter from the cold I needed a hand to hold You give me shelter from the cold baby yeah Oh yeah, yeah Just when I thought I had nobody baby You were right here all along And when I thought I had nobody, babe You were right here all along

If only she would sing...

I am curious...to get everyone's thoughts on this song: 'We'll Be Together Again' - the Ray Charles song that closed out the series. Someone on Twitter asked my opinion and I thought it would be interesting to pose it to you. In reading the lyrics do think this song was supposed to be a goodbye from Maddie and David (and the Moonlighting production team) to US, the viewers and fans? Or do you think it was their goodbye to each other? "Goodbye/We'll Be Together Again" No tears, no fears, Remember there's always tomorrow So what if we have to part, We'll be together again Your kiss, your smile, Are memories I'll treasure forever So try thinking with your heart, We'll be together again Times when I know you'll be lonesome, Times when I know you'll be sad Don't let temptation surround you, Don't let the blues make you bad Someday, someway, We both have a lifetime before us For parting is not good-bye, We'll be together again I will always believe that this was a song of hope for Maddie and David. It's almost like the writers broke the 4th wall one last time to send us a message. And even though GGC has said that Maddie was attracted to David like a moth to a flame, I still think he believed they loved each other and would end up together. Because of this song at the end of "Lunar Eclipse" I will confess...as she hides behind her lap top avoiding hurtful and or messy objects thrown at her....I don't completely hate the episode. Don't love it, either...just to be clear.....OUCH!!

And even though GGC has said that Maddie was attracted to David like a moth to a flame, I still think he believed they loved each other and would end up together. OMG, did he really say that? Sorry, but I don't think that's a fitting metaphor - it expresses only half of the truth! The attraction was maybe - no, definitely - an untamable one, but it was not an attraction that led Maddie to the road to ruin!! Moth to a flame sounds far too negative for me!

Well, I don't know, but...I'd agree with Sandra on this. Moth to a flame? And who is supposed to be a moth? Anyway, he could have chosen a better metaphor to describe "HIS KIDS".

See, when I think about moths and flames as a metaphor for their relationship, I don't see it as a negative. I think it absolutely describes their tempestuous relationship.... Maddie wanting something she always thought she shouldn't have....David always the flaming attraction. I don't think GGC intended to mean the relationship was an impossible thing as in what would happen if the moth flew into the flame. But I could be wrong...just my opinion!

But now you bring this up and it's lke what ? huh? No way could it have meant goodbye for M&D!Ok Maybe for the actors? But i always had hope with that song but ive been hoping for 22 years to see a reunion, which i know will never happen but in my head M& D walked out of that church together and slowly started over and are together and bantering and loving & etc,etc ,etc Thanks for putting the words here, can't say i knew them all.

yes bees, I agree as long as the moth/flame thing describes only the intensity of the attraction and the fact that the desired "object"/person is a dangerous one you shouldn't be attracted to, in the opinion of the moth, that is. Probably GCC meant it that way.

I just listened to my Best of Sheryl Crow CD and found a beautiful song that seems very Maddie-ish to me! What d'you say? Strong enough
God I feel like hell tonight the tears of rage I cannot fight I'd be the last to help you understand are you strong enough to be my man
Nothing's true and nothing's right so let me be alone tonight 'cause you can't change the way I am are you strong enough to be my man
Lie to me I promise I'll believe lie to me but please don't leave
I have a face I cannot show I make the rules up as I go it's try and love me if you can are you man enough to be my man
When I've shown you that I just don't care when I'm throwing punches in the air when I'm broken down and not can stand would you be man enough to be my man
Lie to me I promise I'll believe lie to me but please don't leave And, of course, the answer would be yes, yes, yes!

Just found another gem on my Sheryl Crow cd, this one seems more a David song to me:
I Shall Believe
Come to me now And lay your hands over me Even if it's a lie Say it will be alright And I shall believe
I'm broken in two And I know you're on to me That I only come home When I'm so all alone But I do believe
That not everything is gonna be the way You think it ought to be It seems like every time I try to make it right It all comes down on me Please say honestly you won't give up on me And I shall believe And I shall believe
Open the door And show me your face tonight I know it's true No one heals me like you And you hold the key
Never again would I turn away from you I'm so heavy tonight But your love is alright And I do believe
That not everything is gonna be the way You think it ought to be It seems like every time I try to make it right It all comes down on me Please say honestly You won't give up on me And I shall believe I shall believe

Home by Randy Newman(covered by Linda Ronstadt and recently Neil Diamond) Something in your eyes makes me wanna lose myself Makes me wanna lose myself in your heart There's something in your voice makes my heart beat fast Hope this feeling will last the rest of my life
If you knew how lonely my life has been And how low I've felt for so long If you knew how I wanted someone to come along And change my world the way you've done
It feels like home to me feels like home to me Feels like I'm on my way back where I come from Feels like home to me feels like home to me Feels like I'm on my way back where I'm from
With your embrace down a long dark street And a sigh of wind in the night But I'm alright 'cause I have you here with me And I can almost see the dark feels light
If you knew how much this moment means to me And how long I've waited for your touch If you knew how I wanted someone to come along I never thought I'd love anyone so much
Feels like home to me, feels like home to me Feels like I'm on my way to where I come from Feels like home to me, feels like home to me Feels like I'm on my way back to where I belong Feels like I'm on my way back to where I belongMaddie song...or David song? Listen and you decide!
