graycav, diane said in an earlier post that Perfetc was supposed to be the season finale cliffhanger, but when news of the cancellation came, the schedule was up-ended. Diane was going to see if she could find her notes on what exactly happened.

This may sound weird, but there are times when I like that we see David turn his head to look at other women at this point. It shows that he is still the same ‘ol Dave from seasons 1-3, only maybe more vulnerable because his heart has been touched by his love for Maddie….does that make any sense at all??? No, doesn't sound weird to me, bees. I think David looks at other women now because Maddie is acting like she called it quits, not because he wants her to be happy with someone else.... He's seeking HIS happiness. IMO.

3. I go back and forth on this one. Annie at times seems like the innocent bystander who happens to get in the middle, BUT she is an adult and should know better than to get involved with her cousins partner……lover…..ex-lover…..father of her child……still do not know what to call them!! Also, I often wondered why Annie did not know that Maddie had been pregnant and lost a baby. Maddie does tell her that she and David are over so why doesn’t she tell her about the baby? We are given the impression that they are fairly close, so why didn’t Maddie tell her? She had ample opportunity at the lunches they had together, shopping sprees, getting ready to go out with David, when he was the topic of conversation. My answer is avoidance with a capital A. Should have kept her therapist…..or gotten a new one!! Or just listened to Annie when she says, “You sound like you are almost afraid of this guy”. Annie shows some sense of what Maddie had with David. She seems to know how Maddie thinks about men and relationships. But, she is still attracted to David anyway and seems smart enough to know that this could hurt Maddie.
Then there is David. Sometimes I get so mad at him about this one and will go as far as to say that I hate him!! And then other times I think that it shows he has not been…..ahem…..whipped! It shows he is very strong-willed and is his own man. I mean, we really don’t want a “Pat Booneish” David Addison do we?? I think he is somewhat attracted to Annie and part of him just wants to quit thinking about what he and Maddie have gone through and get some fun back in his life. I also think he wants Maddie to be jealous. But then, the little affair carries on to long and even when he sees Maddie is hurt by it he keeps doing it!! ESPECIALLY after he learns Annie is married. I still have a hard time accepting that he would leave his morals behind and sleep with a married cousin of Maddie’s……Having said that, I do think he has a conscious and does think of Maddie when he kisses Annie on their date, hence the hesitation in doing so. At this point I believe he is a man on a mission…that being one who wants to forget, avoid, punish and keep Maddie’s attention.
As much as I hate saying it…..I feel David is the villain. Boy, that was a really good question………
I am really glad graycav is going to participate in this one! I want to know the male perspectives take on this!!

bees and italianbluemooner, I am reminded of David's phone call to Maddie in A Tale in Two Cities when he tells her that he has wasted way too much time on her and that he is going to get back to his life, his friends, etc.

4. Both David and Maddie did things wrong along the way, but I must say yes, I think Maddie brought it all on herself. Her issue with avoiding what her heart is telling her has caused her a lot of pain, probably her entire life, and she just never seems to learn!!

bees and italianbluemooner, I am reminded of David's phone call to Maddie in A Tale in Two Cities when he tells her that he has wasted way too much time on her and that he is going to get back to his life, his friends, etc. In a fit of anger!! His feelings were blurred at that point.... Now it's different, IMO. No, I think what we're watching tonight is the result of Maddie's behaviour during Season 5....

David's hair is much better!! Mullets were the thing then, though. My brothers and my husband had one!

I agree, he always lost his temper and said and did things he would later regret. I think he regretted that phone call and what he did that night in TOTC.

OK. The dancing scene with Maddie "could" have reignited something between them if either one wanted it to, but neither gave it a try. Even the banter was bland. Zoom ahead to Dave and Annie's slow dance (with the sax in the background) and there was instant heat...just like D&M USED to have.
Remember at this point Dave did not know Annie was spoken for.
