The scene opens in David's bedroom. David is asleep sprawled across his bed with the covers kicked off. He seems to be in the middle of a disquieting dream. He is tossing and turning in his sleep. Suddenly, David comes awake, sitting up abruptly "Maddie" he croaks.

David looks around his bedroom realizing it was a dream. He lays back down on the bed with a frown on his face. He didn't quite understand what was happening to him. Lately, his nights were filled with dreams of Maddie. He hated to leave her at the office at night and he couldn't wait to see her in the morning. Sure, he knew for awhile that he was falling for her but when did he land so hard? He thinks he realized the depth of his feelings last week when he found out that Maddie had gone on a date. It was ok for him to fool around with other women cause that's all it was to him..fooling around. But his Maddie? And when did he start thinking of her as "His Maddie?" David was CONFUSED. He had the feeling Maddie cared for him too but who knew with that woman? And was he ready to settle down/ Get married again?

'Maddie, Maddie" David muttered to himself, "What am I gonna do now?"

Can I just clarify - Is Sam lamb in the picture or not? Are we pretending he never showed up? Snap x

Maddie turns around to face the camera in the shower. She looks sad...so sad. She can't quite work out her feelings lately. She had wanted a man..any man...quite frankly she was wondering if she wasn't losing her credentials. She was feeling confused. She thought of David. She had been thinking of David a lot recently. She had half dared to hope that he would have stopped her going on her man hunt the other night. 'God I can't stand that man' she muttered to herself. She didn't sound very convincing.

An elevator door opens and we see a pretty pair of low pumps walking down the hall. Camera pans up and we see Maddie walking down the hall to Blue Moon. She looks like she has a lot on her mind. She puts on a fake smile as she enters the office to Blue Moon.

Agnes: "Good Morning Ms. Hayes!"
Maddie: "Good Morning Agnes. Any messages?
Agnes: "Only one. A potential client calling to check on your credentials. I put through the call to Mr. Addison."
Maddie: "He's in already? Must be a new record."
Maddie crosses to David's office, knocking as she opens the door. David is sitting with his back to the door STARING out the window. He turns when he hears the knock. A smile lights up his face. "Maddie! Just wondering when you would show up. A little late for you isn't it." David gets out of his chair and and perches on the side of his desk. "Not another date night was it?"
Maddie: (the words slip out of her mouth before she can stop them) "And it is your business why?"

[beesnbears]

DAvid stands and prepares himself for a little morning tiff.

David: The reason is staring you in the face, Maddie.

Not the words he wanted and he can't take them back.

Maddie: And what does that mean?

David: That means we have a business to run and it's my business to know why my business partner can't seem to show up for work on time!

[snappysara]

Maddie "My personal business is none of your business and I am not your business partner I am your boss so you can just mind your own business about why and when I show up for work and as we have a business to run then I suggest we get on with it - now what have I missed?"

David "Well as your personal business seems to be none of my business, I'll try and mind my own business. As for your business... BOSS, (he gets right in her face) I suggest you make it your business to catch up on business with Ms Depesto as I have to go out for an appointment"
Maddie "What appointment?"
David "None of your business" He leaves and slams the door.

David storms through the outer office. MAddie follows.

Maddie: ADDISON! We're not finished!!

The Wobblies freeze. Agnes' eyes grow big.

Maddie chases David down the hall.

Agnes: Uh-oh....the boss isn't pleased...

Maddie chases David down the hall. They both stop at the elevator.

David: "Finished! I never even started!"

Maddie: "And what about the client we are suppose to meet with. He wants us to do INVESTIGATING for his new law firm. We need this case."

David: 'And I need to get out of here. Away from you for awhile. You go. I'll see you later!"

David gets into the elevator. As the doors close on Maddies' angry face David regrets his words. He doesn't understand why Maddie has the power to make him soooo angry.

[diane]

Maddie pounds on the elevator button in frustration.

Maddie: That man is surely the most IRRITATING being on earth.

She does an about face, and heads back to the office.

She confronts Agnes.

Maddie: Where did Mr. Addison go?

Agnes: Go?

Maddie: Yes go...as in leave, depart, scram....he said I was to discuss the business with you. That must mean you know what he is investigating."

Agnes: He did? He said? It must? I do?

Maddie shrieks something unintelligible, and turns on her heel, entering her office and punctuating her departure with a huge slam of the door.

The Wobblies all looks towards Agnes and speak as one.....""Ooooooh, Agnes is in trouuuuble!"

Agmes speaks aloud, but almost to herself, "Boy, if that's what it feels like, I feel sorry for Mr. Addison."

David got into the BMW with no real destination in mind. He just need to get away from the most irritating woman in the world. He felt jumpy and it was too early for a drink. He began to drive aimlessly not really paying attention to the road. Suddenly the car in front of him stopped short. David SLAMMED on his breaks and avoided hitting the car full force. He clipped the car's side bumper and pulled to a stop. This is all I need, he thought. He ran is hands through his hair and got out of the car. The door to the other car opened and David noticed long legs leaving the car. A drop dead gorgeous red head exited the car an angry expression marring her beauty.

[snappysara]

"Hey - I was hoping we would bump into each other" David gave her his sexy smile.

"Well I have an appointment that I can't miss so don't think me rude if I don't stop and chat" She looks at her car and assesses the minimal damage. "Good job you slammed on the breaks when you did" She turns to get back into the car.

"Hey hey hey" says David "Maybe we could discuss how I could make this up to you over a drink"

Her "Hmmm I don't think so"

David "Well I'm a detective so if you leave now I will be able to find you"

The woman "Well I am a lawyer and if you start stalking me I will have you arrested"

David "Really - will you wear a police uniform to do that...." ;D

The woman breaks into a smile despite herself. She extends her hand to David.
Woman: "My name is Hope Saunders."
David: "Hope? What a great name. Especially for a lawyer. Your motto could be Saunders is the name. I give you Hope." (David flashes her his most brilliant smile his green eyes flashing in amusement)"I'm just David. David Addison."
Hope:"Well just David I suggest you and I exchange insurance INFORMATION.
David: (still smiling) "Over a drink?"
Hope: "of coffee" (She smiles back at him.)

[beesnbears]

The diner is bustling as waiters scurry across the restaurant to serve customers.

Hope: So...David...where were you going in such a hurry and where were you coming from?

David: I was on my way to get some information on a client.

Hope: Must have been an important client for you to be going so fast.

She smiles and meets David's eyes. He has trouble maintaining eye contact...she knows he's not telling the truth.

A man enters the diner. He seems to be very distraught. Suddenly, he pulls a gun out of his jacket and yells at everyone to get on the floor!

David acts without thinking. He throws his body across the table and wrestles the gunman to the ground. The man is a junkie and hardly puts up a fight. David takes the gun from the junkie as the patrons applaud. Hope jumps up from the table and flings herself into David's arms.
Hope: "Truth is your my HERO"
At that instant a news reporter takes a picture of David and Hope embracing. A news crew was on the premises filming a story about the restaurant's 100th anniversary celebration.

Across town at Blue Moon, Maddie is back from her client interview. She got the job and also an invitation to dinner. The client was a tall, handsome, successful man but Maddie hadn't accepted his invitation yet. She told him she had to think about it. As Maddie was sitting at her desk working she had the TV on in the background. Looking up she was shocked to see David with a shapely redhead draped across him. She was so flustered she couldn't even concentrate on the reason David was on the news. All she saw was him with that woman. Immediately. she picked up the phone to call the client to accept his dinner invitation.

She had to get David out of her mind. Out of her heart. Maybe this man could be the one to divert her attention. She could only Hope. (ha ha)

The following happens to the music 'Uptown Girl' by Billy Joel (was that out then?)

First we see David in a coffee shop with Hope Monique, laughing and joking.
Then we see Maddie on her date in a posh restaurant trying to look interested.
Then we see David accompany Hope to a bar and they are laughing and dancing.
Then we see Maddie leave the restaurant and get into a cab with her date.
Then we see David and Hope kissing on the dance floor.
Then we see Maddie outside her door with her date.
Then we see David and Hope catch a cab.
Then we see Maddie kiss her date on the cheek and take a 'raincheck'
Then we see David KISS Hope good night and get back in the cab.
Then we see Maddie's date looking confused.
Then we see Hope looking confused.
Then we see David throw himself on his bed lying on his back thinking of Maddie.
David "just not my kinda heroine"
Then we see Maddie climb into bed and stare at the ceiling thinking of David.
Maddie "just not my kinda hero
