Here's one to chew over. Would Moonlighting, as it was broadcast from 1985-89, get primetime ratings today? If ABC decided to start running it, beginning with the Pilot Episode, Tuesdays at 9pm, would a whole new generation buy-in?
I, for one, think it might work. The dialog is 'timeless' Very few references to the '80's'. When you peel away all the layers, it's two people destined to be together... and people have been making shows/movies about that topic forever.
Would it hold its own against all the 'Reality TV' ie; '24', American Idol, The OC, etc...
Television ratings are based on much different things in 2006 than they were in 1986... but this particular TV show will stand the test of time... which is why we craved the DVDs and which is why a forum like this exists...
Thoughts?

I would say yes. The only thing that would be so 80's would be Maddie's clothes. ;D

And the hair ----------------------------------------------------------- Absolutely, I mean, look at me and Sakura! I was 16 when it aired here, Sakura 14 ( right? ) We fell in love with the show. And my guess is we aren't totally unique with that, so yes, I do think the younger generation would watch it if it aired again.

Does anybody know where I can find Moonlighting in syndication in the United States today? I don't think Bravo airs it anymore. I went through an entire week of their television schedule today and I see ML nowhere on Bravo.
Is it gone from syndication for good?

WHAT? That's horrible. I always had the image of the US having 1000's of channels showing all the old TV shows. I can't believe we actually get a show the US doesn't!

Private detective shows are not popular anymore. Perhaps if they became lawyers it might work.

Well......you know what flying fig would turn into......and I guess the heart boxers would have to drop to the floor to get good ratings in 2006.
