It was that dang Bug or me!! But, they called them Lovebugs for a reason!! Gray---you deserve a Blog-emy Award for your avatars!!

I believe Betty Russell's epiphany was an indication of how short life is and what really matters at the end of the day. The rhyme and reason, the drive for success; what does it all matter when you're gone? The only thing she could concentrate on was the love she didn't have...children...although a great career legacy; she had no intimate one. The writers could have used that more for Maddie and David to receive an epiphany about the importance of love and how it overcomes all. So sorry since, I must have missed this post somehow...I didn't mean to "copy" you! And yes, I totally agree that the writers could've done more, both in this ep and the next one ("I See England"), to make a connection for our favorite duo!! There's that mediocre minds thing again, lol...hey, you know it and I know it...we all know it

But yes Maddie does beam ,like she is so proud of what she did for David but David is like :this is a joke right? I also wished he would have kissed her cheek , that would have seemed sweeter don't ya think? rose I agree with the kiss placement, rose!! It makes me cringe and makes me really sad because it just seems so over with them. But, I always thought he kisses her on the forehead because of their lunch conversation. She did ask him if he was dating other people, like she was looking to do the same. Shoot!! The kiss should have at the least been a peck on the lips, don't you think??!! Yeah that forehead kiss didn't sit exactly well with me either but I guess after seeing all the great kisses these two have laid on each other through the years...the forehead kiss definitely pales in comparison. You're right though, simple but I never connected the forehead kiss to the conversation in the mall...yet, that's the only logical explanation. David more than makes up for it with the pearls and then the "very temporary" happily ever after kiss Maddie lays on him. Ahhhh, good times! ;D

It really is painful to watch the kiss on the forehead. Heck, way back in "In God...", he kissed her on the cheek! The forehead does not work for me either.

Loved the fanfic, Jen...poignant, a bit melancholy, so Maddie, so real.

Thanks, guys! Glad you enjoyed...
And as for that kiss on the forehead...ugh. That's how you kiss your maiden aunt, David--not the gorgeous woman who has just bought you a CAR...even if it is a Yugo.

I realize this is probably a by product of S5 writing....but it gives us something to talk about!! LOL!! ;D

Q3: One common complaint about the Season 5 writing is that it is no longer true to David and Maddie’s characters. Overall, how do you feel this episode ranks in that department?
Well the more we get closer to the end of the series the more their characters change. They used to be so sweet with one another but then it becomes more nagging or just plain not really very nice as season 5 goes on. Like at times they are really strangers or not friends, just plain ole business partners, or dare i say it:PALS BLECH! Ok thats another episode LOL Then there are times when their true characters just shine so brightly in season 5 and we say why oh why didnt they continue this way! It makes you want to cry i tell ya!

Q7: What do you think is the tone of David and Maddie’s conversation in the mall? Are we being led to believe that there’s a chance they’ll get back together?
This episode like i said i think before i like it and then i dont at times. Sometimes i like the way they talk about how well they know the other and we get to learn alittle more about their time together as a couple and other times it's like these 2 hate each other and thats why they arent together. Us as viewers are always looking for the hope that in their conversations we will see they truly love each other and want to get back together, sometimes you see it here and sometimes you dont. SIGH well this is season 5 for ya! UGH! LOL
