6) The Claymation sequence is a stroke of genius for this time in television history. What, if anything, do you think of this scene's significance?Well, it WAS from David's point of view, but I think it did a good job of bringing a bit of Maddie into focus as well. David realized that there were big issues here, and that he and she have completely opposite ways of approaching a resolution. He was going to call, then his vision of Maddie the phone stopped him. He was going to fly out, but the vision of Maddie herself kept him in LA. The bit about her as a witch was a bit telling however, and if you notice, the Addison charm...even as a horny toad, works to change her from a nasty crone, to Maddie in a witch outfit (insert Gray fantasy here) and eventually to a fairy princess. He was convinced that he could still win her over, if only she would listen. Oh Gray *wipes tear*, you totally understand...OMG I can't touch this one now, I don't dare smear the perfection of this response!

7) What is the purpose of David smashing the Bimmer until its damn near unrecognizable? What does the Bimmer symbolize in David's eye's? A. Maddie B. Their relationship C. David's heart D. Other Please explain why. A) I believe it is all of the above/other, how ever you would like to view it. David can't show Maddie how angry he is because she is not there to view it, nor can he call her and speak obscenities that would convey his hurt without possibly loosing her forever. Yet technically it is Maddie's car and therefore an extension of her; something he can damage without going to the penitentiary, other than her house. (Not at all implying David would physically hurt Maddie, never that!) B) The relationship between Maddie & David is in shambles, its a wreck and the Bimmer is the place where the two spent most of their time together. Maddie & David's way to be close to one another without giving too much, to be alone and to bond. C) The Bimmer also symbolizes his heart, smashed on every side, repugnant in his eyes because he is not the one for so much emotion; having endured heartache in the past but nothing he hasn't been able to over come. This on the other hand is a different tale. This heartache is unbearable, Maddie is the love of his life and he is lost as to what he can do to fix it. The car on the other hand is simply repaired by tossing the keys to a faithful crony to have it sent out for repair.

8) "Why shouldn't you get a chance? Why shouldn't any two people get a chance?" From this comment on, please discuss the range of emotions David displays through the end of this episode. David is livid, his response to the couple is harsh although his words are understanding. He is also jealous of these two doing what ever it takes to be together. It irks David that the couple had come to the consensus so quickly, so easily...communicated honestly and came to this drastic conclusion which they surmised would be the best result. David then attempts to become ambivalent as he leaves the elevator numb and hurting simultaneously, slapping himself possibly to tint, thus hide the putridity of his skin. Once he reaches the office, David is discombobulated; the fallacy of his idle conversation lacks luster and wit, it is simply not the real David. When David gets behind closed doors, he is visibly sick! While watching this scene, "I Miss You" by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes (premiering in a fanfic near you soon) happened on my playlist & it totally fit the feeling that Bruce conveyed as he (David) cried cuffed inside the fold of his arms. *sigh* I felt like cussing (I probably did), it hurt me as it had the day this episode premiered that Tuesday night so long ago.

5) As we know, each case tackled by Blue Moon Investigations resembles a situation in which Maddie & David are facing personally. What do you believe this case has in common with Maddie & David's life at this time?
Donald Chase pretty much sums it up...to paraphrase: "I fell in love with a woman, and I think she fell in love with me. But now I don't know where to find her." (To which David responds: "There's a lot of that going on around here.") But that's just the surface. On a deeper level...it turns out Melissa and Donald will go to some pretty great (or deep, as the case may be) lengths to be together. They face a huge obstacle, but overcome it as a team. Finally, they run away... together. David, in the Claymation scene, says he wants to tackle his and Maddie's problems as a team...but his partner in crime ran away on her own, leaving him behind. JPen, lovely...just lovely! This is the only question I refuse to answer (ha, & I wrote it) simply because it takes a great deal of soul searching in regards to our beloved David. You have to pay attention to that which is subcutaneously placed in his heart for the sake of pulling this answer to the surface. The words written here are simple yet so meaningful...greatly expressed Dear~

BTW, since, wanted to add my thanks for these terrific Q's!!
4) In observing the phone conversation between Maddie & David, explain what each are feeling from your point of view.
Oh, boy. This scene is one of those that just gets me in the gut--their emotions are so visceral. David, as has been said, is angry--he's gone through a whole panoply of emotions in this one day, from hopeful to devastated, from pissed off to panicked.
When Maddie finally calls, all these feelings rise up to do battle: you can practically see him think "Oh, thank God!" when Agnes tells him she's on the phone...and there's another tiny moment of hope in his hesitation. But then he gets into his line of questioning, and the frustration and disappointment, as well as out-and-out longing for her, threaten to overwhelm him. In true Addison fashion, he takes refuge in sarcasm.
But then, as since pointed out, he hears the real pain (and the tears) in her voice. She's not playing him...and though it kills him to do it, he reacts like the true gentleman he is, and agrees to give her some time. Wow.
As for Maddie...she may have run away, but she's not running from her feelings right at this moment, IMO. Her love for him comes through in her voice--when she asks for time, she's really pleading with him ("Say it's OK, David"). You can see in her face that she's missing him, that part of her is thinking "Why the hell did I do this?"...and that feeling almost takes over, which is why she hangs up--she knows she can't hold it together a moment longer.

3) When Maddie arrives at her parents home, a conversation ensues which contains information for each of this two-parter.b) Mr. Hayes makes several assumptions regarding David, Mrs. Hayes interrupts his dialogue between "two business people". Why is this?Virginia is much like Agnes. She knows there is something going on with MAddie and knows better than to pry or force her to talk. Mothers and daughters tend to have that silent bond between them when Dad's need to be quiet!! Learned this from experience!! HA! I love how you compare Candy (ha, I can call her Candy right) & Agnes...both are great observers. Both really know Maddie and look out for her, running interference with the men in Maddie's life.

agree that he hasn't a clue that Maddie may have gotten involved with David as he would have NOT been so jovial in his conversation; even in his observations.
Ole Alex would have been furious that his Baby Girl felt so out of control in her own business environment that she has to flee home to the safety of the nest. since This is what I mean by seeking approval from her parents, especially her dad. And why David doesn't fit her mold of who she thinks she is suppose to be with. Spot on but Dad surprises us all in a few episodes doesn't he?
